Never a dull moment.

Been another interesting week
On Friday the 3rd of March I went and checked out the Show Your Ability expo. It was really good to see the advances in technology and equipment available and if I had the money I’d  invest in one of the handcrank mountain bikes. I did a bit of filming and when we edited it together I discovered that the sound quality was a bit crap, so I have since ordered an external mic for my phone for future recording. I’ve also learnt to slow down when I pan around an area etc.  We still edited together what we had, I transcribed the audio and posted it here: https://www.antnzventures.co.nz/2018/03/03/show-your-ability-2018/ on Sunday evening.

Show Your Ability 2018

Equipment to Thrive

Yesterday I went down to the Show Your Ability Expo held in the Central Energy Trust Arena, Palmerston North. One of the biggest disability expos in New Zealand definitely had equipment there for people to thrive rather than just survive!

Trying to get back into my “normal” routines

Rejoining the “rat race”

So I was AWOL last week, and for good reason I say.  The place we were staying has little stable mobile reception; that and I needed a proper break away from the hustle and bustle of constant phone calls, emails, blogs etc etc etc.  In all honesty it was a good break away and the trip we took, although hectic and energy consuming was exactly what I needed.

I’m supposed to be “taking a break” but I thought I’d check in.

A bit of a quick check in with a Vlog

I’m taking a bit of a “break” and taking some time out, however I thought I’d do a quick Vlog and let you know where things are at!
I’m being kept to a pretty strict “one hour every two days” work time so I actually take a bit of a break and rest so, I’ll update when I can!
A transcript of the Vlog can be found in the YouTube description.
Take care, thrive not survive and remember life is an AntnzVenture!

We were hoping for a quiet couple of days away

Kumeti, 1 Feb 2018

After having a pretty icky January I was hanging out to get away and have a quiet couple of days away in the bush. I’d found a reasonably close (1 hr drive) DOC (Dept of Conservation) campground. It was a nice campsite, but alas the trip didn’t quiet go as planned as you will see in the Trip Vlog.

Assumptions about New Zealand Rivers.

Putting on my Outdoor Instruction Hat…
One of my long term goals is to “section” walk Te Araroa, New Zealand’s “thru-hike” that runs the length of New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Te Araroa take walker through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular landscapes and I will probably be not be attempting this in one go, and some parts I will be doing supported. Te Araroa is drawing more and more international visitors every year, it is newly developed as far as “thru-hikes” go and at this time it sometimes feels like there are more tourists on the trail than New Zealanders.

An interesting end to last week

An interesting end to the week last week…

I’ve been keeping a pretty low profile this week as I’m still getting my health sorted out.

I did however have an appointment on Friday to meet with our electorate MP, Iain Lees-Galloway to have a bit of a chat about tertiary level education for students with impairments. I was supporting a friend as she met with his PA last week to address an issue my friend was having, I got a little cheeky and asked for some time with Iain.

Hello 2018!

Happy New Year!

First blog of the year, it’s going to be a bit of a wrap up of 2017 and some thoughts looking towards 2018. I’ll try and keep it brief but there’s a lot I did during 2017!
