Alice Nash Memorial Heritage Lodge: Ruahine Forest Park
14 & 15 December 2017

I've been travelling so much lately for the Enabling Good Lives work that I was well overdue for an outdoors trip. Needed some time out but also didn't want to push myself "too" much, so I headed for Alice Nash Memorial Heritage Lodge in the Ruahine Forest Park. A great trip out by myself.

Apparently there are hills in the cloud
It wasn't looking very "nice"

It was a "wet weather gear" kind of day

It's a pity that the only shade at the carpark was next to the longdrop!

Had a amazing afternoon watching the weather and reading. The walk out was a beautiful day, although a little hot. We had to seek shade at the carpark next to the longdrop while we waited for our ride!

National Lead Climbing Championships 2017; Paraclimbing
19 & 20 August 2017

The first Paraclimbing competition to be held in New Zealand. It was an honor to make a little of New Zealand Climbing history. Thanks to Extreme Edge; Glen Eden, the Auckland Sports Climbing Club and Climbing New Zealand for hosting us. A close competition and we had an absolute blast, I'm looking forward to next year! Thanks to Sian Mofitt Photography for some of the images! A huge shout-out to massage.co.nz, VertX Climbing Gym, Hawkes Bay Vapor and those that donated anonymously to support getting me to the competition.

A quick weekend get away with family. Went for a drive to Pongaroa and got to see Waihi Falls. Also found some boulder fields that have some potential.

Burtton's Track, Tararua Forest Park
4 June 2014

A safe day out at a local track, I was hoping for a 3 day hammock camping and hiking trip but the track conditions got the better of me. It was a good conformation that I can do a 10km day with a full "down to zero" gear with me. This track is part of Te Araroa, and I was hoping to complete my first "section", at least I've started!

Not a bad day to head over those hills.

Tawa Loop, Manawatu Gorge
21 April 2017

A day adventure at the Manawatu Gorge.  I've done the Tawa Loop before, but as a "training" for other trips so it was nice to take my time and some photos along the way.

Was good to remind myself what's in my own back yard!

A quick overnight trip. I love NZ, a beautiful spot to chill out! I'm glad we took the time to have a wee look at a couple of close spots.

Lovely surroundings to chill out to

Rangiwahia Hut, Ruahine Forest Park
9 - 11 February 2017
"Solo" Trip

My first independent "solo" trip into the wilderness in 12 or so years. There is something special about heading into the bush by "yourself". I was accompanied by Assistance Dogs NZ Ben, who carried a good swag of gear; having him enabled me to do this trip. I'm looking forward to many more!

Ready to go
